Shameless

The following is a news item from TOI online today:

CHANDIGARH: A day after hockey player Ranjitha Devi accused women's team coach MK Kaushik of sexual harassment, former Punjab supercop KPS Gill on Wednesday demanded CBI probe into the charges.

After the charges, Olympian Kaushik quit as the national women's hockey coach. Hockey India (HI) has constituted a five-member committee to look into the matter.

"This is a very serious issue and we cannot rely on the inquiry of any of the committee. We need a thorough inquiry into this and I demand a CBI probe into this incident. An FIR (first information report) should be registered immediately against Kaushik," said Gill.

Gill is the former president of Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), which was later dissolved by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

"Even during my tenure as the president of IHF, Kaushik had tried to send an unfit player for a tournament. But it came to our notice and we stopped him. Therefore, we cannot trust his integrity. I am afraid that IOA people can try to shield Kaushik. There is a strong possibility of involvement of many more names," said Gill.

Remember this guy and the Bajaj incident?! He has the gall to talk about sexual harassment. AMAZING

Question for the Day

Why do the traffic cops in India harass the two-wheeler guys alone when the more serious traffic offences are committed by the four-wheeler drivers?

Humour in Indian Newspapers

I have always loved reading articles on humour. Used to look forward to reading the humourous 'middles' in Times of India, Deccan Herald and other newspapers. But of late, the middles seem to have disappeared except for Deccan Herald. Hope there are more opportunities and avenues for humour writers to contribute and make reading more joyful and enjoyable.
